Drexel University Online Gives Back to Local Nurses Offering Free Massages During Nurses Week
Philadelphia, PA - April 22, 2008 – In honor of the 2008 National Nurses Week, Drexel University Online will offer complimentary massages to nurses at local hospitals around the tri-state area.
National Nurses Week runs from May 6 and ends on May 12, commemorating the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who founded modern nursing and made history for her work in the Crimean War. During Nurses’ Week, Drexel Online will invite nurses at 10 local health systems to take part in complimentary massages at their workplace.
The participating health systems are partners of Drexel Online, which has over 160 corporation, health system, school, and professional association partnerships nationwide. Partner employees have the option to enroll in any of Drexel’s 60 plus online programs and receive tuition reductions ranging from 10 to30 percent.
“Drexel’s corporate partnership program has been a great success because we are providing corporations, health systems and associations with the tools they need to invest in their most valuable asset, their employees,” said Dr. Kenneth Hartman, academic director of Drexel Online.
Drexel’s College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) has been offering online degree programs since 1999. The online nursing graduate programs were recently ranked by U.S.News & World Report among the 10 largest graduate programs in the country.
“We went online because we knew that working nurses needed the convenience and quality that Drexel’s online learning provides,” said Dr. Gloria Donnelly, dean of the CNHP. To date, more than 1,500 students have enrolled in online nursing programs provided by Drexel Online.
In addition to massages, current and prospective nursing students will receive gifts and can participate in prize drawings. “Honoring nurses during Nurses’ Week is Drexel’s way of appreciating the significant role that nurses play in health care today,” said Donnelly. “We are happy to recognize nurses in our community who give so much of themselves each and every day.”
