    Welcome New Students

Thank you for choosing to continue your education with Drexel eLearning. The faculty and staff of the university are committed to providing you with a quality and convenient online educational experience. You have chosen a rigorous academic program that will require plenty of hard work, but will reward you with a prestigious academic credential and the knowledge and skills to help you meet your life goals.

    Getting Started

The first steps you need to take to begin your online educational experience are to:

    1. Pick up your Drexel computer accounts

    2. Establish access to Drexel e-mail

    3. Work with your academic advisor to register for your initial courses

    4. Purchase course materials (textbooks)

    5. Participate in the online orientation course (mandatory)

    6. Begin classes

If any of the instructions below are confusing or unclear to you, we apologize, but don’t worry – we are here to help. While at an Internet-connected PC, call Drexel eLearning toll-free at 877-215-0009 and we will walk you through the process over the phone. Drexel eLearning’s normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. If you require service during our off-hours, send us an e-mail at help@drexelelearning.com and we will work out an appointment that is convenient for you.

STEP ONE: Pick up your Drexel computer accounts

    1. Go online using your Web browser.
    2. Go to http://www.drexel.edu/computeraccounts.
    3. Click on "Pick up your First Accounts".
    4. Follow the instructions and fill out the form. Click OK.
    5. Read the acceptable use policy. Click YES.
    6. Print out and retain for future reference the Web page with the heading “Computer Account Management Service – Account Setup Wizard – Step 4: Account Creation and Delivery to Client”.

For now, the most important account information is your account name and password. The account name is usually three letters followed by two numbers. You will use this account name to login to your courses in the Blackboard system and to access your Drexel e-mail.

STEP TWO: Establish access to Drexel e-mail

Note: There may be a delay of 10 minutes (or more during periods of peak usage) between picking up your Drexel computer accounts and all of Drexel’s systems recognizing your account information. So if your login doesn’t work right away, try again in a few minutes.

    1. If not already online, go online using your Web browser
    2. Go to http://one.drexel.edu (this site is known as the Drexel One portal)
    3. Login using your account name and password.
    4. Click on the e-mail icon at the top of the page.
    5. You should be able to send and receive Drexel e-mail from this site. To test your connection, send a test e-mail to email-test@drexelelearning.com . You should receive an automatic response within a few minutes.

IMPORTANT: Once you pick up your computer accounts, all e-mail correspondence with you will be directed to your DREXEL e-mail address, not any other e-mail address. Note: There are alternate ways to access your e-mail if you prefer not to use the Drexel One portal (such as adding your Drexel e-mail account to a mail client such as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express or having your Drexel e-mail automatically forwarded to another e-mail address). For more information see www.drexel.com/help/.

STEP THREE: Confer with your academic advisor and register for courses

Your academic advisor is here to help you meet your educational goals and keep you on track toward earning your degree or certificate. After conferring with you, your advisor will register you for courses for your first term. Contact information on your advisor can be found below. If you haven’t already been in contact with your advisor, please contact your advisor immediately to get registered for classes.

STEP FOUR: Purchase course materials (textbooks)

Course materials may be purchased through the Drexel eLearning online bookstore at http://bookstore.mbsdirect.net/DREXELELEARNING.HTM or from the source of your choice. The online bookstore site will indicate which materials are necessary for the courses you are taking.

STEP FIVE: Mandatory Online Orientation (available one week before start of term)

You will receive an e-mail from Drexel eLearning with instructions on how to log on to Blackboard and how to participate in our mandatory online student orientation course. The orientation course is designed to familiarize you with Blackboard and make you aware of the university services that are available to you. The orientation course will take you a total of 2 hours to complete, but you may complete the course at multiple sittings as your schedule allows.

STEP SIX: Begin classes (beginning first day of term)

The orientation course will explain how to access your courses in Blackboard. You will not be able to access your courses until the first day of the term. Within the Blackboard course framework your instructor will provide you with any course-specific ground rules for participation in his or her course.

If you have technical difficulties or questions about what to do next, access help resources at www.drexel.com/help/or call Drexel eLearning toll-free at 877-215-0009.
