How do I know which of my previous college credits will transfer into this program?

Can I apply after the application deadline?

Even though we accept applications on a rolling basis, we must receive applications by the application deadline. To consider you for admission in the next available term, please see the program of your choice for application deadlines. In some programs, you may be able to join as a non-matriculated student and then matriculate as soon as you complete your application package. If you are unsure, call us at 877-215-0009 or 215-895-0500 or email info@Drexel.com.

Do you offer self-paced, 'correspondence' programs?

No. All our programs have set dates when courses begin and end. Programs follow Drexel University's academic calendar. Students take courses in groups, with homework and assignments due on specified dates. However, students maintain the flexibility to decide when, within a week, they will study their course materials and attend online classes, since class sessions are asynchronous – they do not take place simultaneously for everybody at set times.

I have an Associate's degree from a community college. Can I get a bachelor's from Drexel University Online?

Yes. Our Multi-Disciplinary Bachelor degrees are designed for students who have previous college experience and are looking to complete their full bachelor's degree. Click here to view all of Drexel University Online's Bachelor's Degree programs. For both our General Studies and Communications and Applied Technology Bachelor's programs, we require you to have a minimum of 24 quarter credits when you enter the program. A typical transfer student with the equivalent of 90 quarter credits (60 semester credits) will need to complete 90 quarter credits at Drexel (approximately 30 courses). Depending on your inclination and other demands on your time, you may complete the degree in as little as 18 months (the equivalent of a full-time student load for 6 consecutive terms), or as long as 7 years (approximately one course per term for 28 consecutive terms). The more college credits you have coming into the bachelor's program, the fewer Drexel courses you will need to take to complete the program.

In addition, Drexel University has formed partnerships with select community colleges nationwide that offer associate's degrees in programs such as liberal arts, general studies and business. Graduates from these community college programs enjoy benefits such as guaranteed admission, predefined associate-to-bachelor's degree transfer procedures, and special tuition grants.

Community colleges interested in collaborating with Drexel should contact Jamila Winder at jhw92@drexel.edu, or (215) 896-0521.

What is the difference between 'non-matriculated' and 'matriculated' status? Can I be switched from one to the other mid-term?

The 'non-matriculated' status is an option for students who wish to begin taking classes immediately but have not completed all necessary admissions materials before the application deadline. As a non-matriculated student you attend courses and earn academic credit same as a regular, 'matriculated' student. You generally have until the end of the first term to submit complete application materials. Upon receipt and admission into the program, you will be converted to matriculated status effective as of your following term. (Please note: Not all online programs offer the non-matriculated option. Please call 877-215-0009 (toll-free) to find out if your program of interest accepts non-matriculated students.)

I only have a high school diploma. Can I get a degree from Drexel University Online?

Generally a minimum of 24 quarter credits is required for admission to our online undergraduate programs. You may have completed these credits through an associate's program or other previous college experience.

However, candidates with strong work experience and other forms of training are still encouraged to apply. You may be asked to pass a placement test or join the program as non-matriculated students and matriculate after demonstrating satisfactory performance in your initial coursework.

Obviously, for admission in graduate programs, you will need to have a bachelor's degree – a high school diploma is not sufficient.

What is a quarter credit? How does it compare to a semester credit?

Most Drexel University programs are structured on the quarter system. This means that we have four, ten-week long terms during the course of one year. Each semester credit is equal to 1.5 quarter credits. For instance, our Bachelor's in Communications and Applied Technology program, which has 180 quarter credits, is equal to 120 semester credits. Likewise, the minimum of 24 quarter credits required for admission to the bachelor's degree program is equal to 16 semester credits. Programs in Drexel University's College of Nursing and Health Professions are structured according to the semester system.

I studied at Drexel University before, but did not complete my degree. Can I apply? Can I transfer my previously earned credits? Is there a special procedure?

Yes, you can apply. In most cases we will recognize your previously earned credit.
