  • BS in Criminology and Justice Studies

    Drexel's accredited online Criminal Justice program goes beyond the narrow "police science" focus of many programs, offering a rigorous academic foundation supplemented by specialized coursework that prepares you for a wide range of professional positions or for graduate study. You'll gain a strong background in criminology, the study of crime and criminal behavior, as well as an understanding of the history, structure, administration, policies, and procedures of the agencies of crime control and criminal justice, including law enforcement, corrections, and the judiciary.

    • The curriculum draws on the strengths of a range of many programs from philosophy to sociology, psychology, legal studies, political science, information science, chemistry, bioscience and biotechnology, and computer science, including the computer-based skills, technological expertise, and biochemical/biotechnological knowledge that are increasingly important to the operation of the agencies of the modern criminal justice system
    • Preparation for 21st-Century careers in criminal justice, private security, the legal profession, or for graduate study in criminal justice or associated disciplines, including forensic science and computer science.

    Curriculum

    This program is organized into four 10-week quarters per year (as opposed to the traditional two semester system) which means you can take more courses in a shorter time period. One semester credit is equivalent to 1.5 quarter credits.

    You can transfer up to 135 quarter credits (equivalent to 90 semester credits) from any accredited institution of higher learning as long as the grade is a C or better. Most credits will fulfill liberal arts or general classes.

    Admissions Criteria

    • Transfer Students
      • A minimum of 24 previous college semester credits (36 quarter credits) with a grade of C or better from a regionally accredited institution

    • First-Year Students
      • Between 0 – 23 previous college semester credits from a regionally accredited institution
      • Must have earned a high school diploma or GED
    • Non-Matriculated Option
      • Drexel University also offers a non-matriculated option, where you can take courses without being enrolled in a degree-granting program.

    Tuition

    The tuition rate for the academic year 2023-2024 is $459 per credit. (A 52% tuition savings off Drexel's regular tuition rate of $956 per credit)

    The 52% tuition savings applies only to new students starting in the Fall 2023, Winter 2024, Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 terms and cannot be combined with any other tuition benefits available through Drexel University.

      • Tuition rates are subject to increase with the start of each academic year in the fall term.

      • Special rates cannot be combined. If you qualify for more than one special rate, you'll be given the one with the largest savings.
