Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Certificate Hybrid Program
Drexel University's part-time, two year pre-medical certificate program is designed for those with non-science undergraduate degrees who wish to pursue a career in the health professions.
Changing careers is often a difficult decision. This unique program will help you transition by providing the opportunity to remain in your current position while fulfilling the pre‑requisite undergraduate science courses needed for admission into most medical, dental, physician assistant, veterinary, or other health professional schools.
Taken over a two year period, the pre-medical certificate program is designed to help you develop a strong foundational understanding of these science topics that will be built upon in future course work in health professional schools.
Students who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree will also benefit from this program. Applications to health professional schools include sections that demonstrate community service and volunteerism. Some students utilize their time in our program to fulfill these requirements and improve their applications to healthcare programs.

Admissions Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. College or university or an equivalent international institution
- Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Completion of college algebra and trigonometry or a higher level math course (e.g., Calculus I) with a grade of B or better
- If you lack the math requirement, an online math course will be offered in the Fall semester.
- We strongly encourage submission of a standardized examination score. At the discretion of the admissions committee, applicants who do not submit scores will still be considered for acceptance.
- Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident

- Three letters of recommendation from college faculty, supervisors, employers, etc, who are familiar with your work ethic and desire to enter the medical field

- A personal statement/essay describing how you believe this program will benefit your career. Consider this an opportunity to distinguish yourself from other applicants. Some topics you may consider:
- How you believe this program will enhance your academic record
- Why you’ve chosen the medical field or another health profession
- What motivates you to pursue and learn science and how it relates to medicine
- Unique hardships, challenges, or obstacles that influenced your educational pursuits
- Commentary on significant fluctuations in your academic record that are not explained elsewhere in your application
- Providing a timeline for your career goals and other activities you'll be pursuing while attending this program

Tuition
The tuition rate for the academic year 2023-2024 is $1091 per credit.
For the academic year 2023-2024, students enrolled in an online graduate academic program will be charged a graduate online program fee of $125 per year.
- This program is not eligible for Financial Aid.
- Special tuition rates available for Drexel University Alumni, Military members, and members of our Partner Organizations.
- These rates apply only to new online students and students being readmitted.
- These rates apply only to fully online courses. Hybrid or on-campus courses may have different rates.
- Tuition rates are subject to increase with the start of each academic year in the fall term.
- All students must contact applyDUonline@drexel.edu within the first two weeks of the term to request tuition savings for which they qualify.
- Special rates cannot be combined. If you qualify for more than one special rate, you'll be given the one with the largest savings.
- When receiving special tuition plans with Drexel University Online, you may not combine them with other tuition benefits that may be available from Drexel University.
