As the sport industry expands globally, the field is increasingly in need of qualified leaders with business ability and industry-knowledge to plan, design, implement, and evaluate sport and recreation programs and organizations.

Drexel's Master's in Sports Management gives students the experience necessary to apply innovative solutions to the most challenging problems in the sport management field.

Graduates are expected to serve as leaders in their chosen area of interest by incorporating various management and theoretical perspectives acquired through Drexel's multidisciplinary training and to influential posts in sporting companies and organizations.

Students in the M.S. in Sport Management program will expand upon previous undergraduate education and develop the ability to:

• Apply the fundamentals of business to sport management.
• Integrate principles of management to organize people and resources to succeed in the sport industry.
• Apply knowledge of law and labor relations to the sport industry and agency.
• Use existing and emerging technologies in the sport management field.
• Forecast new developments and adapt to the rapidly changing sports environment.
• Creatively direct the economic contributions that sports offer to individuals, organizations, and the community.
• Effectively organize, evaluate, improve, and utilize new innovations in the sport industry.
• Utilize the knowledge and skills learned through the MS program to produce an in-depth research project or thesis, which will serve to advance the study of sport management.

Curriculum

The online Master's in Sport Management curriculum provides an integrated education experience focused on developing the ability to manage sport and recreation programs. Drexel's program teaches students to create solutions to some of the sport industry's most challenging problems. Taught by a faculty of professional coaches, scouts, trainers, and sport administrators, the online program is divided into three segments:

• Core/Foundation courses – Learn about key principles of sport management in relation to law, marketing, public relations, economics, media and technology as they relate to the sport industry. All courses can be completed online.
• Summer Residency – Students must participate in a week-long summer residency in Philadelphia after completing the core curriculum. This residency will bring students from the online sports management degree program together to take part in a workshop that includes a series of educational and work sessions intended to allow students to interact and learn through applied settings.
• Project/Research Thesis – The last segment of the Sport Management curriculum is to utilize the knowledge and skills learned through the MS program to produce an in-depth research project or thesis, which will serve to advance the study of sport management.

Opportunities for sport management graduates have never been more diverse or challenging. The MS in Sport Management program prepares students for careers in a wide spectrum of organizations in the sport industry, including:
