Preparing professionals to teach with gaming production techniques
The Graduate Certificate in Learning in Game-Based Environments will benefit educators, instructional technologists, and corporate trainers interested in integrating learning in a game-based environment in and out of the classroom or training settings. Students will be introduced to the foundation of games for learning, motivation research that influences games, learning theories and instructional design principles, the role of play and learning in a participatory culture, and design research and evaluation of learning technologies. It will prepare teachers to expand their existing skill set to incorporate educational games in their current positions or to become leaders working in fields such as educational publishing and corporate training.
This certificate provides the knowledge and skills needed to develop educational gaming features for positive learning outcomes and assessments and streamlines processes to design gaming strategies using web-based and mobile technologies.
Completion of this 27 credit (9 course) certificate offers a strong foundation for the Master of Science in Learning Technologies program.
