Gain the knowledge, research tools and collaboration skills needed by today’s school leaders.
Using state and national leadership standards, this master’s degree is designed to prepare and mentor future elementary and secondary educational leaders with the practical skills, knowledge, and internship experiences to become effective leaders in rural, city, and suburban schools.
This program is ideal for prospective students holding a teaching or counseling certificate who wish to advance into school administration. Career-changers from fields outside of education that are interested in school administration may wish to explore Drexel's Master of Science in the Science of Instruction program (MSSI). The MSSI program can be configured to allow you to work towards both teacher and principal certification at the same time. State certification as a school principal requires five years expereince as a certified teacher or counselor.
Note - We no longer offer the stand alone 24-credit Principal's Certificate Program due to a change in legislation that prepares school leaders to meet the PA Department of Educational Guidelines for addressing the PA Leadership Standards for School Leaders. The Principal's certification can only be acquired through the MS in Educational Administration: Collaborative Leadership.
