Admissions Criteria

  • Current U.S. licensure as a registered nurse
  • Copies of any additional current advanced practice nursing licensure and certification documents
  • Official sealed copy of all undergraduate education transcripts
  • Official sealed copy of all graduate education transcripts
  • Current curriculum vitae
  • DrNP Program written statement, answering the following two questions in 2-3 pages, double-spaced. (You do not have to answer the essay on the application as well): 
    • Why do you want to enter the Drexel Doctor of Nursing Practice Program?
    • As a clinical nursing scholar, specifically, what clinical nursing phenomena are you most interested in and do you perhaps have a primary clinical research question in mind?
     
  • Two letters of recommendation (Applicants have the option of submitting their two letters of recommendation either via the Confidential Letter of Recommendation for Graduate Admission Form (Downloadable PDF) or by submitting two standard written letters of recommendation sealed with signature of the recommender across the back of the sealed envelope flap.)
  • Complete the following forms:  
  • Criminal history/background check clearances: Criminal background and child-abuse background checks are required. If you have resided outside Pennsylvania in the past three years, you must submit an official criminal history background check from EACH STATE where you resided. Drexel University will obtain this information if you are admitted.
  • International applicants (as well as immigrants to the U.S. and U.S. permanent residents whose native language is not English and who have not received a bachelor's degree or higher in the United States, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom) must submit the following:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 550 is required for the paper test and 213 for the computer-based test.
    • Test of Spoken English (TSE). A minimum score of 55 is required for the TSE.
    • Evidence of licensure as a registered nurse in the United States.
     
  • Before matriculation, the following must be completed:
    • Satisfactory physical examination
    • Accepted students will need to pay a non-refundable $750 deposit that will go toward the first quarter's tuition.
